Stopping a wrong way driver on the highway - New Haven/Fort Wayne - Christmas Day

Driving back from my spouses parents house on Christmas morning around 1am. We were talking about our air fryer that they gifted us so please ignore that :) This guy did not seem intoxicated to me, he was foreign and a heavy accent. Very nice and he turned around right away to correct the situation. A pretty favorable outcome, thanks for watching!

Shortly after I stopped, a FWPD Officer stopped and was going to sit with him until he got back with some gas for his vehicle, that way I could take off and go about my day. Had a near miss with a car almost rear-ending another car when she slowed down to pass us... my lights are extremely visible on the rear of my truck... People just don't care...
Slide Off and Ground Level Fall - POV Response - January 18th, 2018

On my way back into town after getting off work that morning. Came upon a slide off due to drifting snow and high winds. Stopped to check on them and offer my assistance. I let dispatch know so a county officer would come out and help. Shortly afterwards EMS tones dropped for a Ground Level Fall, and the patient was outside. The temps were sub-zero with windchill so we were pretty concerned. PD...

Was on my way to get my haircut and run some other errands and came upon a three-vehicle crash. One truck had rear ended a car and pushed it into another vehicle. Only minor injuries. I helped block the road until additional police c...

Do you have 3 or 4 batteries to run all that overkill ?
This was dumb don't show nothing at all but then going to the call
What front camera do you have its crystal clear
My dad and sister are firefighters i couldn't do that line of work but im proud of them thank you for making this
Thank God you shot this short in complete darkness. It make the lights actually look bright. 😂
How long you had this truck and had you drove out of state lately
Love the setup 😎👍
Found the video again after 5 years!
People Vomit all the time for various reasons it is rare to have a Ambulance dispatched to the persons home unless the vomiting is causing Severe Dehydration
Correct. Often we get dispatched on the "Complaint" and it turns out to be something completely different as well. The "Sick Person" category in our dispatch CAD system was most likely the closest option to what the caller was telling them.
I respect what you do😁
I just got some longer screws on the top with washers and and It pulled it in pretty good.
That isn't too bad! I didn't trust the strength of the unit to give that a shot, figured I would break the thing! lol
I have a question, What part of Indiana are you in, I live in Princeton, My roommate & I moved up here from Louisville, Kentucky December 17,2020.
I run EMS over in Kosciusko County, near Warsaw, Indiana. Welcome to the state yall!
I’d recommend Feniex for surface mounts. They’re super bright and price is unbeatable.
Agreed, you can't beat their quality!
so i take it you don't have a siren besides the electronic horn? oh that motor sounds good!
Technically we aren't supposed to have that but it was fun so I used it! lol
That’s a bad idea man. You shouldn’t cut up the truck to install tail lights. Big mistake
Haven't had any problems
You gotta sync them if you are going to have that many lights
Yessir that was something I learned to do after this project and something I have done on every project since!
@@EMS916 good stuff
A cool thing for my area is, Alabama doesn’t allow volunteers to have any lights period. So, the vol departments issue take home cars that are equipped with lights and siren, so they are driving an approved departmental vehicle to run code to either station to get trucks, or directly to scene. It’s a nice loophole to have, so they have much lower response times.
That would be really nice! I know a few departments have looked into that for the on call staff, but for the call volume the cost doesn't outweigh the benefits. Another argument was insurance coverage, however the department insurance covers us when utilizing our own vehicles for these responses so it was a non-issue. Maybe one day we could revisit that idea!
@@EMS916 I wish everyone would issue cars, or let people use POV.
Why have you stopped up loading?
I got rid of my old truck and started purchasing several fleet vehicles. I started my own company in fall of 2019 and have been growing extremely quickly ever since! I just started adding new cameras in my fleet trucks, so I may upload a video here or there if I get any clips/footage. I typically only work one weekend a month. I put in my 48 hours and go back to running my company.
@@EMS916 what type of company do you run?
Officer Pushes Disabled Car he is not a officer or police
LOL that is hilarious. How is he not police?
I agree with a lot of these comments. Remember, there are 50 states, all with different laws. Then every fire department/ officer with differing opinions. THEN, a gazillion cops who ALL have their OWN opinion! So, more updated and more common laws are sorely needed! With all that said, something we ALL need to remember is: DON'T Become part of the problem! More Lights DO NOT mean you'll get there any faster! And with lights- Flashing Faster isn't NECESSARILY better! Going through red traffic lights sounds GREAT ! ... until it's not ! Waiting for a light to change (go green)?? Think about killing your light show !! Your asking for the Right-of-Way and not taking it. CONFUSION! and secondary incident time! Being a volly is a ton more than lights!!! It ALL starts with LEARNING all aspects, and making WISE decisions from the initial alert!!! Having a million lights ... could trigger bad reactions to other motorists - don't care? You will when they hit you!
Agree 110%. I feel like all inclusive federal legislation would solve the majority of the problems out there. Lay the groundwork for consistent standards across the country, instead of each state winging it. It would also give volunteers a lot better visibility and protections when going outside of their home state.
I have a question did you got rid of this Colorado because I swear I seen in south of town I stopped at the gas station and saw this truck and was like is that ems 916 I was about ready to say hi but no it was an older individual with most of the lights still on it but anyway I hope your doing well.
Yessir thanks for checking! I did sell this truck with most of the lights intact to an older gentleman who wanted a project. My company has been expanding so I sold this guy to purchase another fleet vehicle. The gentleman I sold it to has some plans to fix the rusty patches and put some serious work into it, but currently is his daily driver.
TYFYS it looks like shit. Lose all of the cheap unrated garbage quality Chinese crap and get some good quality US made Class 1 rated lights that will be seen in all weather conditions and stuff that is actually rated for emergency use.
You must be fun at parties. It was a good learning experience, why would I waste the money on top tier stuff for me to screw it up? Now that I know what I am doing I only buy top tier. I have completely upfitted 4 of my companies vehicles this year using all the skills acquired from this project. Thanks for your input.
Awesome video!! Thanks for posting it!! Love your truck! And I love how you just looked up at the police car :) you, sir, are awesome!!
Thanks so much man! I appreciate you!
More like a beer run!!
That stinks you cant run sirens
Yeah, hence why so many damn lights lol
It's just not right that you can't run sirens and red and blue lights
Yeah, even just red I would take! Better than freaking green lol
thats awsome u got a colorado looks great
Thanks so much! It was a fun learning experience!
Wow more lights than me and I run red/white with siren
If we could run siren I wouldn't need as many damn lights lol
Can I Do this to my car ?
Depends on your local laws and what job you do. A good rule of thumb is anyone can have Amber/White, but the other colors are restricted to public safety.
That brush unit😍 Do a video on that
Not my department, otherwise I would!
wow such respect for emergency personal
Tell me about it lol
How do you run the wires from the lights on the running boards and the light by the license plate? Trying to figure out how to hide mine when I start to wire my truck.
I drilled through the rockers on the bottom of the truck to run wire. You have to be careful, and make sure you use grommets and some sort of silicon to seal it. Last thing you want is water getting inside and things starting to rust.
Dont listen to the idiots in comments you done a great job going to the scene. What traffic advisor that you recommend thanks.
Are you required by law to response to the firehouse first or can you go directly to the scene?
So each department is different, there isn't a guideline/legislation in my state about this topic. Thus making it dependent on each department and their policies. This specific video is interesting so I will break it down into two sections. The first thing to note is I do not live in my departments coverage area and this accident did not happen in that area. I heard the accident and hopped in the truck to check it out and help until our local Fire/Police/EMS arrived. I can't respond to their calls unless it is a specific set of circumstances like this such as I witness/hear a crash and will beat everyone there. I have permission from my department to use my lights accordingly for those situations or in situations where I am roadside (flat tire, assisting someone, etc.) where it wouldn't be safe to NOT have my lights on/in use. The second to note is after you are a fully released (trained) member of my specific department you can respond either to the Fire Department or directly to the scene at your discretion. If I can make it to the station before the ambulance rolls I will, however we cover a massive area. There are times where one person rolls out in the ambulance and I respond from the other side of the service area to meet them. Then I just leave my truck on scene and have them drop me off after the call. Hope this helps! We use our best judgement in those situations!
Hey buddy turn your music down a little bit
I disklike that horn
Yeah, I got it for free from a buddy so can't complain.
Are you making more videos?
I haven't been recently, I started a business and don't work as much as I would like. Thanks for watching!
Im from Europe so excuse my probably stupid questions but why do you respond with your personal vehicles to a shortness of breath callout? I get cardiac arrests and MVA's where you are the closest unit for example, but on this type of callout i dont understand the function of this many people in this many different vehicles among two ambulances aswell? Other than that, awesome video and awesome channel, i subscribed!
No such thing as a stupid question my friend, things are way different over here! So we have multiple levels of service, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advance Life Support (ALS) over here. Due to monetary reasons, a lot of the small town services are volunteer and BLS services. The ALS services are typically bigger cities and further away (upwards of 30+ minutes at some points). So when a call comes in, it dispatches our volunteers (at work, home, wherever) and our BLS ambulance. On this type of call, where advanced care my be needed, the closest ALS unit will also be dispatched for an assist. In this case, they happened to be just as close as our unit (I was getting off work from the ALS service at the time of this video, as I run ALS as my full-time job, and then work & volunteer for the local BLS service. The first response unit that you see arriving on scene, the red truck, is the rescue unit from the local volunteer fire department. They are a non-transport unit, they respond and stabilize, until the transport unit (which you see arriving second, the blue/white ambulance) can show up and take over patient care. I hope this helps you understand our structure and organization! In these small rural communities, the hospitals and ALS units are upwards of 30+ minutes away at times. Sometimes, our guys will arrive in their personal vehicles long before any paid staff arrive in a rescue or ambulance.
awesome video. when will you be posting again?
I wish I knew! I don't work very often anymore as I started my own business, along with picking up an additional side job as an armed guard. Thanks so much for watching!

Nice video
Thanks for watching!
Legit question, Ambulance is already responding so unless you are ALS or needed for extra manpower why bother going to this call in particular?
Legit question! I am a supervisor on the service which allows us to respond to any call. My reasoning for responding to this call was that we only had an EMT and a Driver on this ambulance, and a fresh one at that. I was responding to back them up and more or less see how things were going. Turned out to be a relatively minor situation and they performed excellently! Thanks for watching!
Wow, that middle school is in in the middle of nowhere! Unreal!
No kidding! The bridge on the highway was out also so we had to go WAYYY out of the way! Thanks for watching!
Middle of Nowhere School Medical Run.....cuz damn....children of the corn middle school?
You had me laughing with that one, you are spot on! Middle of nowhere!
Thank you for your service ... but this response time is absolutely ridiculous. Your community needs more stations or closer personal. Sorry ...
I completely understand the thoughts behind the comment but let me put this in there. Every single firefighter on that scene is a volunteer. They all came from home or work. The medics were paid personnel and are often first on scene. I was late to the party but still responded to help out. We have plenty of coverage as the first arriving engine was there in under 9 minutes. I was picking my truck up from the mechanic, thus why I was so far away. Thanks for your comment! It is a very important subject, people need the best protection possible!
Disco light show
Correct, I learned a lot from this build! I was an excited young kid lol thanks for watching!
I’m also from Indiana working fire/ems who did you go about getting your green light permit?
Your Fire/EMS chief will have a form that you submit, it requires your department head to sign off on it. Hope this helps!
Im getting a police interceptor for my next car and I'm looking into volunteer for radio and maybe ems. I live in Allen county but can u have Amber lights? I wanna make sure before i buy my gear
Anybody can have amber / white, and you are allowed amber/red to the REAR ONLY of the vehicle. Any other colors are reserved for the respective first responders. Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any questions!
